march 31 – day of genocide of azerbaijanis

Throughout the year, certain calendar days are remembered as tragedies, genocides committed against our nation, written into history in blood. One of these days is commemorated every year on March 31 as the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis.

On the night of 30 March 1918, the genocide perpetrated by Armenians resulted in the savage murder of about 11 thousand peaceful Azerbaijanis in Baku alone, including women, children and old men.

The genocide against Azerbaijanis was committed not only in Baku, but also elsewhere in remote areas. For example, on March 31st, Armenian Dashnaks murdered more than sixteen thousand Azerbaijanis in Shamakha County and more than two thousand innocents in the villages of Guba. Besides that, they burned down hundreds of villages in Zangezur, Nakhichevan, Lenkaran, Mughan and Nagorny Karabakh. The dashnaks’ savagery culminated in the butchery of tens of thousands of innocent Azerbaijanis.

On March 26, 1998, President Heydar Aliyev signed a decree titled “Regarding the genocide of Azerbaijanis”. Since then, March 31st is marked every year as Genocide Day of Azerbaijanis and a variety of events are held worldwide, such as conferences and ceremonies of remembrance, to commemorate March 31st as Genocide Day of Azerbaijanis.

Continuing its mission on delivering tragic history of our nation to the world community, UBM Group aims to tell the truth about the genocide to a wider geography.

From the beginning of this year, as part of its corporate social policy, UBM Group conducted extensive promotion activities on the eve of the 20 January tragedy and Khojaly genocide across all the social networks and other resources.

Having created on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram as well as YouTube a special page called “Armenian Terror”, UBM Group announces the start of a high-profile campaign to spread the truth about the Genocide of Azerbaijanis to the world.

Developed and produced by the UBM Group, those posters, drawings and videos incorporating documentary evidence of the genocide have been posted on the dedicated social media outlets in 5 languages – Azerbaijani, English, French, German and Russian.
