The Khojaly tragedy – one of the deadliest episodes in the modern history of Azerbaijan – marks its 24th anniversary. On 26 February, the day of Khojaly genocide, every citizen of Azerbaijan whose heart harbours love for their homeland and people tries to tell the truth to the whole world about the atrocities and barbarities of the Armenian militants who perpetrated ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis. As a result of the seize of the Azerbaijani town of Khojaly by Armenians and the indiscriminate slaughter of its residents in the early hours of 26 February 1992, about 613 civilians were killed by them. These included 63 children, 106 women, 70 elderly people, 487 wounded, 1275 hostages, and while 150 are still missing.

The Justice for Khojaly campaign was launched by Leyla Aliyeva, vice president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, on 8 May 2008 in an attempt to inform the global community about the Khojaly massacre.

Note that, as part of its corporate social policy, UBM Group resolved to undertake a package of projects aimed at informing the international community about all the tragic events that the Azerbaijani people were forced to experience. With this end in view, in the run-up to the 26th anniversary of “20 January”, UBM Group launched a publicity campaign, which was widely covered both by the national and foreign media, as well as the social media.

Having created on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram as well as YouTube a special page called “Justice for Khojaly”, UBM Group announces the start of a high-profile campaign to bring to the world all the horrors of the Khojaly genocide.

 

Developed and produced by the UBM Group, those posters, drawings and videos incorporating documentary evidence of the Khojaly events have been posted on the dedicated social media outlets in 5 languages – Azerbaijani, English, French, German and Russian.

UBM Group urges all Azerbaijani nationals, regardless of their place or country of residence, to become actively engaged in spreading an honest word about Khojaly. Let us not forget our history and tell the world in a loud voice about the bloodiest page in the modern history of Azerbaijan.
